Steven Davies
Sporting Profile
A former England Under-19s captain described by Geoff Miller as a ‘consistent performer’, Steven Davies immediately caught the eye of the England A team; finishing above Graeme Hick in his debut season at Worcestershire in 2005. Having been selected to tour the West Indies that winter, Davies celebrated his return to home soil in 2006 with a score of 192, topping 1000 runs.
A continued display of outstanding form in the Pro-40 League earned Davies a place in the ODI squad for the 2009 West Indies tour, where he made an impressive international debut at the Twenty20 in Trinidad; top scoring for England with 27 from 21 balls. Called quickly into the England test side soon after, Davies acted as understudy to Matt Prior on the recent tour in South Africa.
